Our AML and Verification Policy at Cleopatra Casino
As the compliance team at Cleopatra Casino, we are required by our Curaçao licence (OGL/2023/174/0082) to verify who plays on our platform and to report suspicious financial activity. This page explains exactly what we check, when we check it and what we need from you.
Our AML Commitment
We operate under licence number OGL/2023/174/0082 issued by the Curaçao gaming authority, and that licence binds us to the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing rules of our licence jurisdiction. In practice this means we must know who our players are, keep records of their transactions, and report any activity that looks like an attempt to move illicit funds through our platform.
Altacore N.V., our operating company, has appointed a designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer who oversees our monitoring systems, reviews flagged accounts and files reports with the relevant authorities when required. No member of our staff can override a compliance hold.
When We Verify Your Identity
Verification is not a one-off event for us. We check your identity at three points: at registration, when basic details are matched against sanction and PEP lists; before your first withdrawal; and at any point your deposits or withdrawals cross the thresholds set by our AML policy, which for us triggers at cumulative deposits of 2,000 AUD or more.
- Government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID card or driving licence)
- Proof of address dated within the last 3 months (utility bill, bank statement or council rates notice)
- Proof of payment method ownership (photo of the card with middle digits covered, or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet address)
- Source of funds evidence where triggered (see the section below)
Step by Step Verification
- Log in and open the Verification section of your account profile
- Upload clear, uncropped photos or PDFs of each required document
- Check that all four corners, your full name, date of birth and document expiry are visible
- Wait for our team to review; you can track status in your profile
- If anything is missing we email you at your registered address with a specific request, never a vague one
How we protect your documents
Your files are stored on encrypted servers, accessible only to trained compliance staff who need them to complete a check. We never share verification documents with third parties for marketing, and we do not retain card images beyond the retention period set out below.
Source of Funds Requests
If your deposits are large relative to typical play, or you win and withdraw an amount well above your normal activity, we may ask where the money came from. This is not an accusation; it is a legal obligation under our licence.
Acceptable evidence includes recent payslips, a tax return or ATO notice of assessment, bank statements showing regular income, a signed contract for self-employed players, or records of an asset sale or inheritance. The threshold that triggers this request on our platform is cumulative deposits of 10,000 AUD or more within a 12-month period.
How We Monitor Transactions
Every deposit and withdrawal on our platform passes through automated screening against risk rules, and unusual patterns are escalated to our compliance officer for manual review. This is done to detect structuring (splitting amounts to stay under limits), rapid deposit-and-withdraw cycling and third-party funding.
If Verification Fails
When a document is blurry, expired, edited or shows a name that does not match your account, we reject it and tell you exactly why, so you can upload a correct version. Your account stays open and you can keep playing.
If you do not provide requested documents within 30 days, or we reasonably conclude the documents are fraudulent, we suspend the account, freeze any balance and hold withdrawals until identity is confirmed. Where the law requires it, we report the matter to the authorities and close the account permanently. Verified balances are returned to the originating payment method once checks are complete.
How Long We Keep Records
We retain your verification documents and transaction records for 5 years after your account closes, as our licence and AML rules of our jurisdiction require. Retention lets us answer regulator and law-enforcement requests, and it protects you if a payment dispute arises years later. After that period, documents are securely deleted, and you can request deletion earlier only where the law allows it.
Frequently asked questions
Why was I asked for a source of funds document?
Because your cumulative deposits reached 10,000 AUD or your activity pattern met a risk criterion in our AML policy. A payslip, tax notice or bank statement usually satisfies the request.
How long does verification take?
Our team reviews complete submissions within 48 hours. Incomplete or blurry uploads are the most common cause of delay.
Can I withdraw before verification is complete?
No. We must complete identity, address and payment method verification before your first withdrawal can be processed.
Do I have to verify if I only deposit in crypto?
Yes. Our Curaçao licence requires the same KYC standard regardless of payment method, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tether.
